Sheffield catapulted back to 90's Britpop heaven - SLIDESHOW
REVELLERS in Sheffield were last night catapulted back to a time when Boyzone, the Spice Girls and the cast of Friends were all fresh faced and just on the cusp of fame.
Nineties theme bar Babylon threw open its doors to the public for the first time with a set list designed to invoke extreme nostalgia.
The venue on Carver Street in the city centre, the former Flares building, hosted a glittering opening night party with champagne cocktails.
Party-goers started in the bar area before a glass partition slid back to reveal the dance floor where a DJ tested their 90s knowledge with some of the era's top Britpop hits.
"Sheffield was at the forefront of the 90s Britpop revolution as the home town of Pulp," said Rachel Watson, manager of Babylon Sheffield.
"We're delighted to welcome back anthems like Disco 2000, Common People and Mis-shapes to the city."
Babylon opens seven days a week from 7pm with late opening until 3am on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
