A Sheffield cabbie has been hailed as one of the top taxi drivers in the country after his daughter nominated him for the honour.
Fazal Rehman, aged 53, of Stubbin Lane, Firth Park, has been driving cabs for 30 years.
He scooped third place in the Cabbie Of The Year awards run by Swinton Insurance, and was handed £250 in recognition of his work, which includes taking disabled children to school.
Fazal said: “I have always worked hard and it is great to receive this recognition of my time as a taxi driver.
“Coming third is motivation for me to keep on doing a good job and to win next time.”
His daughter Rucksar Naaz, 21, of Stubbin Lane, added: “He has never really had any qualifications, so being recognised for all his hard work over the years has been amazing.
“He has always tried to do that extra bit more. The whole family are dependent on him. He’s my role model.
“I nominated him because I thought he should be recognised.
“He couldn’t believe it when he got in the top three. He’s never won or even been nominated for anything before so fit was a big thing.”
Steve Roberts, manager of Swinton Taxi Division, said: “I would like to congratulate our worthy winners, who in their own ways demonstrate the brilliant work that cabbies can do.”
