A Christmas card designed by a small start-up business in Sheffield is soon to appear on the mantlepieces of top political figures across the country.

Neepsend-based martha and hepsie ltd was chosen to design a Christmas card for Sheffield Hallam MP and deputy prime minister Nick Clegg.

Martha Copinger Binns, who runs the homeware, stationery and gifts business with her sister, Hepsie, said:

“It’s quite surreal when you think about it - I’m just a very normal person trying to run a small business in Sheffield!

“It was giving an opportunity for a small business to get a bit more exposure.”

The card, which has a festive photo booth theme, features Mr Clegg with his wife, Miriam Gonzales. It took Martha a day to put together.

Martha, aged 30, of Hunters Bar, added: “They had the idea about how they wanted to do the photos and then I put it together.

“A lot of political Christmas cards are quite stern and boring so it was good to put a bit of fun into it.”
