BOOKSELLERS in Sheffield are preparing to welcome two of the city’s Olympic legends to their store.
Lord Sebastian Coe and Jessica Ennis will be visiting Waterstones, Orchard Square, in the city centre, in the run-up to Christmas to sign copies of their autobiographies.
Becca Gransbury, events co-ordinator at the store, said: “It’s brilliant, we’re really pleased.”
London 2012 heptathlon champion Jess, from Millhouses, will be in store to sign copies of her upcoming book Unbelievable, From My Childhood Dreams to Winning Olympic Gold on Thursday, december 13, from 5.30pm.
London 2012 organising committee chairman Lord Coe, 1980 and 1984 men’s 1,500m champion, who attended Tapton School, will be at the store on Tuesday, November 13, from 5pm.
Mrs Gransbury, from Wybourn, said: “We’re expecting them to be as big, if not bigger, than Jarvis Cocker last year, particularly Jess.
“We’re expecting to get about 300 people through .
“We might have to look at capping the queue, but that depends on how it is going. We advise people to get here early and make sure they are aware they might face a long queue.”
The 34-year-old said the store would remain open as long as the stars were happy to keep signing.
She said: “We are looking forward to them. I am sure everyone will be looking to work on those days.
“I am especially pleased we have Jess coming as I had to write a pitch for it and we got it.”
Jess has a second city signing lined up at WHSmith in Meadowhall shopping centre. She is due at the store on Thursday, November 8, at 1pm.
The store also has two other celebrity book signings lined up.
Actress and comedian Miranda Hart is due at the store on Sunday, from 11am, to sign copies of her book Is It Just Me?, while singer Olly Murs is due at the store on Wednesday, October 31, to sign copies of his book Happy Days.
A wristband scheme is in operation for both events.
