A Sheffield barrister has appeared in court in Leicester charged with a sexual assault on a teenager.
Barrister Desmond Rosario, aged 46, of no fixed address, appeared at Leicester Crown Court yesterday for a plea and case management hearing.
He was granted bail and the case was adjourned until May when his trial will take place.
Rosario denies the allegation which relates to a girl aged over the age of 13.
It is alleged he sexually assaulted the teenager in Sheffield in October 2013.
Rosario was a criminal barrister who represented clients at Sheffield Crown Court.
He also prosecuted cases for the Crown Prosecution Service.
H e was called to the bar in 1990 and was a member of St John’s Buildings Chambers in Sheffield city centre until 2013.
Rosario was a former University of Sheffield law student and helped out with teaching at the university on a casual basis.
He was not a member of staff.
