Kind-hearted Sheffield bank worker Diane Cotton has been honoured by her colleagues for the time she spends volunteering.

Diane Cotton, aged 53, manager at Yorkshire Bank’s Haymarket branch, has been named a Volunteering Star by fellow workers.

Diane donates on average 20 hours a month to helping out in the local community, most notably through the work she does for St Luke’s Hospice.

She organises a vast amount of events for the hospice, including raffles, quizzes and auctions, dedicating her own spare time to make sure every event runs smoothly.

Diane said: “It’s heart warming to see the work the hospice does and it’s always great to get the team in to see what goes on. It’s not just a place that people go and never come back from, it’s an extremely important charity that helps people with illnesses and rehabilitation.”

She also hosts her own fundraising events for the hospice which included a charity raffle and an auction at her local pub.

Jacqui Atkinson, community affairs manager at Yorkshire Bank, said: “Diane is a fantastic example of someone who has really gone above and beyond the call of duty in order to support her local community.”
