Football fever has gripped Sheffield with a number of local musicians composing their very own World Cup anthems ahead of the team’s departure to Brazil.
The latest recording comes from the Bocca Brothers, an indie band from Hunters Bar made up of Jack and Steve Bocca on guitars and vocals, and Dan Haynes on drums.
The talented trio penned the personal piece to show their support for the England squad, who will shortly be heading to Rio, ready for the tournament’s kick-off on June 12.
They hope their cleverly composed tune ‘Boys in Brazil’ will be chanted by fans in the stands as well as those back home in England.
Said Jack: “We’re all big footy fans so wanted to show our support for the lads in the most personal way possible.
“It’s not something we’ve just thrown together, we’ve put a lot of effort into it and believe we have come up with something that will inspire the team and the fans.”
Boys in Brazil is already attracting hits on Youtube and can be downloaded via Google Play from today, with all proceeds going to charity.
The song is instantly likeable with a catchy tune and lively lyrics which include: ‘we are Lions and we roar, do the Samba when we score’.
Added Jack: “We’ve got a good feeling about this year and hope our song will spur on the boys to bring the World Cup trophy home.”
