A Sheffield baker has become the first ever Briton to be selected to take part in a prestigious European baking competition.
Wayne Caddy, aged 45, will compete in ‘Europain’ in Paris next year, where he will bake-off against the best bakers in the world.
Wayne, who is head of bread baking at the School of Artisan Food in Worksop, has been baking for 25 years. He has been chosen to compete in the bread category of the World Masters competition next March.
He said: “It is only open to the people adjudged the top eight in the world in their field, and I’m the first ever British baker to be chosen for any of the masters categories, so that’s pretty cool.
“We have to bake live on the day for around eight hours so we will be under pressure, but I’m just so honoured to take part.”
