WITH empty windows on advent calendars and twinkling lights on trees, the countdown to Christmas is upon us.

There will be a long line of things people across South Yorkshire still need to do ahead of the big day, but The Star is urging readers to take the time to spare a thought for a less fortunate child.

The Cash for Kids Mission Christmas – run in partnership with Hallam FM and Magic AM – needs your help to ensure Santa stops at every child’s house this festive season.

Donations of new, unwrapped toys have been coming in thick and fast – but campaign leaders need more people to show their support to break last year’s record, when gifts were delivered to 13,159 kids in the area.

Samantha Travis, charity manager at Hallam FM & Magic AM’s Cash for Kids, said: “So far so good, but we are looking for more supporters, along with current supporters being in touch with us, so we can share their events and successes through our website.

“We are looking for companies to show their support with cash donations. We want to thank everyone involved so far and are excited about the next few weeks.”
