Sheffield advice workers join together

ADVICE workers are offering help for Sheffield residents struggling to cope with changes to benefits.

Citizens’ Advice Bureau staff have joined forces to set up Sheffield Welfare Advisers Group.

The group predicts thousands of people will have difficulty with changes including the reduction in housing benefit for people with spare rooms - the ‘bedroom tax’.

Other alterations include the new Universal Credit which is replacing a host of benefits, and tougher sanctions for benefit claimants.

A group spokesman said: “As advice centres, we know we have to work together if demand on our services is anything like we expect.”

For details, call Tim Arnold, at Sheaf CAB, on 0114 258 3363 or Chris Walker, at Pitsmoor CAB, on 0114 273 8838.
