Sheffield pupils were learning about the horrors of the Holocaust in a visit from survivor Zigi Shipper.
Sheffield Park Academy students in Years 8, 10 and 11 were today due to hear him recount his experiences, which include time in the Lodz ghetto in Poland and at the notorious Auschwitz and Birkenau death camps.
A question and answer session was also planned to help pupils better understand the Holocaust and explore its lessons in depth.
The visit was part of the Holocaust Educational Trust’s outreach project.
Craig Dillon, Park headteacher, said: “It is a privilege to welcome Zigi Shipper to our school and his testimony will remain a powerful reminder of the horrors so many experienced.
“We hope it will encourage our students to learn from the lessons of the Holocaust and make a positive difference in their own lives.”
