Staff from Experience Barnsley – the museum operated by Barnsley Council – will be appearing at six of the town’s libraries in February to find out about the history of the Barnsley British Co-operative.
There used to be a Barnsley British Co-op shop in every village in the borough and Barnsley museum staff are making a display of Co-op memorabilia.
The Experience Barnsley staff will record residents’ stories and memories, as well as asking them to loan their memorabilia to create an exhibition.
Residents are invited to the pop-up events where they can find out more about the Co-op by looking at photographs, maps and objects on display.
The libraries being visited are Darfield, Central, Royston, Penistone, Cudworth and Worsborough.
