YORKSHIRE Water is spending £3.4 million on a scheme to improve sewers on the outskirts of Sheffield.
The company is making the investment in Eckington, which will reduce the risk of flooding to 24 homes.
Work began in late February in the private land to the east of the A6135 at Littlemoor to install a huge concrete storage tank capable of holding 2.5 million litres of storm-water during wet weather.
The tank is the same size as an Olympic swimming pool, and will take until September to complete.
From Monday, contractors will begin laying a new sewer in High Street starting near the junction with Gosber Street.
High Street will be closed to through-traffic and diversions will be in place. Peveril Road will also be closed from March 25 until July.
