THE 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre is being marked with a special service at Sheffield Cathedral on Sunday.
Adam Funk, an American churchgoer, will read an extract from the Archbishop of Canterbury’s book Writing in the Dust during Eucharist at 10.30am.
The archbishop, Rowan Williams, witnessed the attacks first-hand.
Following the reading, the choir will enter the Cathedral in silence as an act of remembrance for those who died in the attacks, which completely destroyed the twin towers of the World Trade Centre.
The service will also include music and hymns chosen to reflect on the anniversary.
Canon Simon Cowling from said: “On this significant anniversary it is right for us to remember them.”
