Service better on buses 30 years ago

Have your say

I hope when they make alterations to the bus services in January they sort the 85 service out. It’s still not running on time and people are still waiting over an hour, which is totally unacceptable.

I think the bus people who think the service is improving are living in cloud cuckoo land. If it wasn’t so serious it would be laughable!

Burncross seems to have a second-rate service to the rest of Chapeltown which has more buses running from High Green down Lound Side into Chapeltown which are no use whatsoever to people in Burncross.

I have been having to go into the city three times a week since before these changes came in, and I am not due to go in again until January 11, and there is no way that I would venture into the city before that date with the bus service we have now. I am sure we had a better service over 30 years ago.

I can remember when Sheffield was noted for the cheapest bus fares in the country and at that time the buses took a direct route into the city.

I also seem to remember someone who worked on the buses saying they were striving to get free travel for everyone. Now that would have been a service to be proud of, but of course that was before this shower that are in now took over.

If they think putting double-decker buses on will solve the problem they must be delusional. The largest number of people travelling during the day are pensioners. Do they really think pensioners are going to be able to climb up to the top deck? So in reality what really happens is the bottom deck gets full and then pensioners have to stand.

I was going to start this letter “For God’s sake sort the No 85 service out” but perhaps I should have started it “For OUR sake sort the No 85 service out!
