'Serious risk' rapist jailed

A FORMER Chesterfield man who raped three local women has been caged indefinitely after being branded a "serious risk" to others.

Keith Waring, aged 37, who used to live in the town centre, was given an indeterminate prison sentence and ordered to serve a minimum of six-and-a-half years behind bars.

Waring who was living in Rugby, Warwickshire, before he was jailed, will only be released once he is no longer deemed a risk.

Judge Hilary Watson described the rapist as a man of two personalities - "a Jekyll and Hyde character" - who regarded women as sexual objects.

She warned there was a "significant risk" of him committing further assaults.

Waring, who was drunk during the attacks, pleaded guilty to raping three women.

Speaking after Waring was jailed at Derby Crown Court, one victim said her attack had "ruined her life".

David Herbert, prosecuting, said: "Initially he would present to women as chatty and friendly but when he began to have a drink became pushy and then forceful."

Geraldine Kelly, defending, said he had struggled to admit committing the offences because he had been drunk on each occasion.
