POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious head-on road crash in Sheffield.

A 67-year-old driver sustained serious injuries including fractures to the neck, broken ribs and an injury to his chest in the collision.

Police say his silver Vauxhall Corsa was travelling on Herries Road South away from the city centre on Tuesday, July 10, at 2.30pm.

At the same time, a grey Toyota Corolla was travelling in the opposite direction towards the city and is believed to have collided head-on with the Corsa.

The passenger in the Corsa, a 63-year-old man, and both the driver and passenger in the Toyota - a 63-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman - all sustained bruising and minor injuries.
