As Christmas draws ever closer more ambitious and spectacular sets of Christmas decorations are popping up on properties across the region.

Santa, snowmen and enough reindeer to pull a thousand sleighs can be seen lighting up properties across the area – with many displays raising money for charity.

Residents in Woodhouse Avenue, Beighton, Sheffield have decorated their homes, with donations going to the British Heart Foundation – the lights are on from 4pm to 9pm daily until January 10.

Other impressive display have been seen in Lime Street, Beighton and Sothall.

Electrician Wayne Skinner, aged 26, has worked hard on making the lights on his Bolsover home more special than ever this year.

The display – which also features music – is also raising money for an air ambulance charity. In previous years, the display has raised thousands of pounds for various local charities.

Lights include displays Wayne bought from Blackpool Illuminations, which he says were his inspiration.

He said: “I’ve always wanted to get a job working on the Blackpool Illuminations, but I think they only employ people who live nearby, so I decided to make my own.

“It’s a nice thing to put a hobby into making people smile, making people happy and raising money for charity at the same time. It’s a win-win.”
