Alan Parkin (Apr 26) asked about regulations for allotments and bonfires. I wrote to you shortly after the council gave the go-ahead for 58 allotments at Mickley Lane, offering residents my sympathy at the prospect of living in close proximity to them.
There are no by-laws preventing allotment holders from burning before 6pm therefore on sunny days it is impossible to have windows open or to hang out washing.
Allotment holders seem to me to be selfish ‘I’ll do what I want’ types, but when someone commits an offence to their property (not that I condone this) then they want the laws of the land to do something,
A little consideration for neighbours goes a long way.
