It might have been foggy this morning but a second glance confirmed it - a new Give Way sign had sprouted next to a perfectly good old one in Sheffield.
They were doing double duty on Edale Road in High Storrs, at the junction with High Storrs Drive.
The front one, with its very own light, had put the other in the shade.
But it turns out the rear one’s a hi-tech new version just waiting for its moment in the sun. It has been installed by the council as part of a drive to save money on electricity.
It is the second double sign scenario in Sheffield after The Star reported twin roundabout signs near the old Kenwood Hall gatehouse in Nether Edge yesterday.
Readers took to social media, mostly to comment on it being a waste of money.
Coun Jack Scott explained the new ones are actually brighter than lit ones when car or bike lights shine on them and once installed they cost nothing.
Does anyone else have pictures of what may be termed ‘inappropriate signage’?
