WORK has started on the second phase of planned regeneration work in a north Derbyshire town.
Nine new shops, a doctor’s surgery, pharmacy and public car park are being built in Clay Cross, off Bridge Street.
The improvements follow construction of a new Tesco store and link road.
Better pedestrian links will also be created between the supermarket and town centre, and there will be public artworks created.
Coun Peter Riggott, of North East Derbyshire Council, said: “The second phase is set to deliver even more improvements and new facilities for local people.
“We look forward to welcoming new retailers into the town, to support existing local businesses and make Clay Cross a great place for residents to shop locally.”
