Detectives investigating the assault and robbery of Stephen Starkey in Sheffield on Christmas Day have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

A 37-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident earlier this week has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police said the 40-year-old male was in custody yesterday evening being questioned by officers.

At around 10.30am on December 25, Mr Starkey was at his home in Reney Crescent, Greenhill, when he was assaulted by a man who entered his property. Items were also taken during the incident.

Mr Starkey was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries where he later died.

A forensic post mortem examination is yet to be carried out.
