A second man has been arrested as part of a murder probe following the death of a man on New Year’s Eve on suspicioun of causing death by dangerous driving.
Zabair Hussain was found on Staniforth Road in Darnall on Thursday December 31 with serious head injuries.
The 20-year-old man was arrested this morning and remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Handley, who is leading the investigation, said: “We believe Mr Hussain may have been struck by a vehicle when he was injured on Staniforth Road, however, the focus of the investigation remains on identifying the men who savagely assaulted Mr Hussain beforehand.
“We have a number of positive leads which have come from the public and I would continue to urge anyone who may have any information relating to the incident to contact police.”
A 28-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of Mr Hussain’s murder, remains in police custody.
