Rotherham will be transformed into a seaside town for the summer holidays.
Deckchairs will be set up, sand will be imported and traditional seaside entertainment, including fairground rides and bingo will be on offer.
The week-long event, starting on Monday August 5, will be held at All Saints’ Square.
Rotherham Council’s cabinet member for culture and tourism, Coun Amy Rushforth, said: “Rotherham by the Sea has been bringing the beach to our town for over a decade now, and what an amazing time it has been.
“It’s incredible to think that over 1,000 tonnes of sand have been used, thousands of ice creams sold and hundreds of sandcastles built, all in the name of fun.
“It takes over a day and 10 tonnes of sand to transform All Saints’ Square into a mini-seaside resort, to be enjoyed by the thousands of people over the week-long event.
“Rotherham by the Sea has become a real tradition in the town centre and Rotherham residents of all ages genuinely look forward to all the activities going on over the week and really joining in the seaside spirit.”
