The sponsor of this year’s Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield is looking for captains to head up teams for the annual War of the Roses battle.
When runners enter the 10k event, which is to be held in September, they are asked to swear allegiance to either Yorkshire or Lancashire.
The team with the best average time wins.
Sponsor Morrisons is looking for captains for the two counties.
David Hart, from The Great Run Company, said: “Yorkshire are the current War of the Roses title holders, but you can never predict the result, as Lancashire won in 2012 and 2013.
“We’re looking for two people worthy enough to lead their county to victory.”
