Scooter rider hurt in collision with car at road junction

A scooter rider was seriously injured in a collision on a South Yorkshire road.

Police said the 59-year-old man was riding a silver Sym Euro MX scooter which was involved in a collision with a red Ford Puma at the junction of High Street and Rotherham Road, Swallownest.

The scooter rider was taken to hospital for treatment but it is thought a 60-year-old woman from Sheffield, who was driving the Ford Puma, escaped injury.

A police probe into the circumstances surrounding the collision is now under way.

Witnesses to the smash at 4.30pm on Monday, November 11, or anyone who saw either vehicle beforehand should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 771 of Monday’s date.
