SCIENTISTS from The University of Sheffield are attending a prestigious exhibition to present a new radar to measure avalanche speeds.
They will showcase their find at the Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition next month.
The new equipment, which has been tested in Vallée de la Sionne in Switzerland, is being used to improve computer models of avalanches.
It allows experts to create more accurate risk models in mountain areas.
The Royal Society’s Summer Science Exhibition, from Monday, July 3, showcases the most exciting cutting-edge science and technology research.
It provides an opportunity for people to interact with scientists and ask them questions on the day about their work.
