STUDENTS at a Sheffield school were involved in a world first – when they took part in a science lesson via Facebook.

Pupils at High Storrs School tuned into the world’s first science lesson broadcast live by the social networking site from the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The event was hosted by TV presenters Dallas Campbell and Dr Yan Wong and transmitted across the world.

The 15-minute lesson, which explored the science of sound, was carried out in the venue’s Elgar Room in front of an online audience of thousands.

Among those participating were students from New York and Hong Kong.

During the lesson, more than 300,000 Tweets with the hashtag #RAHScience were posted on Twitter which allowed pupils to ask questions and teachers to give feedback.
