BUDDING stars used their talents to raise cash for a South Yorkshire charity.

Youngsters from Worksop College Prep School, based at Ranby House in Retford, toured their annual production of George and the Dragon – the patron saint’s battle to save a town from a beast – in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston.

The Year 8 pupils took the play to private houses and managed to raise £640.

Pupils in the Archbishop of York’s Youth Trust staged a supermarket bag-packing session to raise cash.

Money raised will support the music and play therapy the hospice provides.

Hospice acting chief executive Heidi Megaughin said: “The school has made incredible efforts to support us over the last year and we are very grateful.”
