A GOVERNMENT initiative has helped three local lads to land their first real jobs.

The Work Programme provides help and support to jobseekers and is a fundamental part of the Governments plan to reduce long-term unemployment.

Ingeus UK, a leading provider of ‘The Work Programme’, has helped north Derbyshire men Wesley Caunt, Keir Wass and Ben Ranson, all aged 21, to bag their first proper job after months of rejected applications.

After leaving school, Keir, from New Tupton, took a three-year training course to improve his skills yet continued to be turned down for jobs.

He said: “Now I have some structure in my life and a reason to get up each day.

“I am financially stable and healthier in my own mind knowing that I have a purpose.”

All three gained employment at SDL Minorfern headquarters at Clay Cross, Chesterfield, a company distributing replacement parts for cars.

Ingeus aims to get people into employment through providing training on how to write a good CV and impress during an interview.
