THE seasons collided in Weston Park when a Sheffield charity finally got to stage its Christmas Santa run.
Around 120 people turned out yesterday for the 5km event in aid of Amy’s Retreat, which supports city families of children with cancer.
There were lots of bemused looks as Santas of all ages, shapes and sizes set off surrounded by Spring flowers and blossom instead of the usual winter berries.
The original run had to be postponed because of December’s snow and organisers decided not to re-arrange until there was less risk of bad weather.
They raised around £2,500 which will pay for almost three families to enjoy a much-needed holiday.
Gabrielle Latham, who helped organise the run, said: “There were plenty of people who were wondering what on earth was going on when lots of Santas appeared.
“I’m just really glad we finally managed to have a successful run.”
