MORE than £10,000 is set to be raised for the British Heart Foundation from the annual Santa Jog held in Sheffield city centre.
The event attracted more than 400 participants who turned out in festive fancy dress.
The jog was started by Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Coun John Campbell, and 12 year-old Tom Procter, from Bawtry, who has congenital heart disease.
Ericka Heslington, British Heart Foundation volunteer and lead event organiser for the Santa Jog, said: “We are delighted so many people turned out to support this year’s event.
“The atmosphere was amazing and we hope to see even more Santas at next year’s!
“Our thanks go out to everyone who make the event possible, and helped us to raise what we hope will be a record amount of essential funds.”
Stuart Heslington, who chairs the charity’s Sheffield Major Events Committee, added: “We’re delighted that this long-standing event has become a cornerstone of Sheffield’s city centre festive calendar.”
