Samaritans is appealing for local businesses to support a fundraising event at Rotherham Golf Club next month - which is home to 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett.
The charity golf day, on August 8, will see teams from South Yorkshire and beyond taking to the course To compete for the tournament title, followed by dinner, a trophy presentation and a charity raffle and auction in the clubhouse.
The event is the brainchild of Rotherham businessman Mark McGrail, whose specialist environmental services firm supports a range of community initiatives in the town, including soup kitchens.
Mark said: “The aim of the golf day is to raise as much money as possible to support Samaritans’ life-saving work. Life is tough, and these are uncertain times, but no one needs to go it alone with their problems. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or like you’re just under too much pressure, Samaritans will listen and help you work through your problems – there is hope. It could be work, family, relationships, money – anything at all. By raising funds with this event, we want people to have a great day to remember, and go away knowing they’ve done something amazing that could help someone they know further down the line.”
