The hot weather sparked field fires in Doncaster yesterday afternoon.

About 50 acres of stubble near Arksey accidentally caught fire aroudn lunchtime.

Fireifghters from Doncaster and Adwick stations used spent about 90 minutes tackling the flames on the land off Almholme Lane.

Other crews were sent to Hollowgate, Cadeby, where about 100 sq metres of grassland was bruining around 2.45pm.

Both fires were said to have started accidentally but South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue says small fires will spread very easily in the current heatwave and have asked people to take care in the countryside.
