SOUTH Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has provided specialist safety training to incident-response staff from Eggborough power station.
Eight employees from the North Yorkshire-based plant attended the fire service’s Training and Development Centre in Handsworth for training on how to use breathing apparatus.
The fire service has developed safety-related training courses for external companies and organisations in a bid to make cash to limit the impact of Government funding cuts.
Eggborough assistant unit operator Phil Robinson said: “We’re all members of our on-site incident response team. If anything happens at work, we’re the people who are called in to carry out what we call snatch rescues before the fire service turns up.”
