Safety honour for campaigner

A SHEFFIELD man who suffered industrial asthma will receive an honorary fellowship from Sheffield Lord Mayor, Coun Sylvia Dunkley, at a national event.

Philip Hydes, whose case has been used extensively by the Health and Safety Executive to draw attention to the dangers of airborne contaminants in the workplace, will be receive a fellowship of the Institute of Local Exhaust Ventilation Engineers, which works to provide safe working environments, at its information day in Leicestershire on Tuesday, January 24.
