FORMER Barnsley and South Yorkshire councillor Jim Marsden has died aged 88.
A fitter at Wombwell Main Colliery who went on to become personnel manager at Dodworth Colliery, Jim was a lifelong Labour Party member.
He represented Darfield on both Barnsley and South Yorkshire County Council and was interested in local history, publishing a book, The History of Darfield.
Jim was married to the late Ann, whom he met while serving in the RAF. He leaves three sons, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Darfield Parish Church tomorrow at 11.45am followed by cremation at Ardsley.
