Ryan aims for some X-appeal
A SHEFFIELD teenager who discovered his singing talent on the karaoke machine at a Christmas party has the chance of pop stardom after being given an audition for TV talent contest X Factor.
Ryan Campbell, aged 19, from Parson Cross, will put his voice to the test in front of the ITV show's producers this weekend, who will decide whether to award him a place in the new series of the programme.
If successful Ryan, who is taking an apprenticeship in sports and recreation and has also been given a trial to play football for Sheffield Wednesday, will then have to cut the mustard in front of judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osborne - and millions of viewers.
Ryan said: "My mum's friend put me forward for X Factor. I had been singing on the karaoke at a Christmas party and she said that when she heard me she had goose pimples down her neck and thought I was destined for big things."
