Runner completes marathon effort

MARATHON man Mark Sleeman is recovering after running a staggering 260 miles in just 10 days.

The 28-year-old financial adviser, from Meersbrook, Sheffield, clocked up the equivalent of 10 marathons in 10 consecutive days.

Mark raised money for two charities, including Sheffield Children's Hospital, by completing the challenge around Lake Windermere in Cumbria.

He said after completing his gruelling feat: "I think a pint of beer is in order."

The Territorial Army soldier completed the challenge despite suffering pain in his legs.

Physiotherapist Amy Bateman said: "His muscles are just not functioning properly any more so they are getting painful.

"The toxins are not being removed as efficiently as they would and it's just come from lack of rest."

Mark was raising cash for the Children's Hospital Charity to help treat youngsters with bone disease and the Brathay Hall Trust, a charity that delivers personal development programmes for children.
