The 26-year-old came fourth in the Sheffield half marathon earlier this year was the second woman to finish the Leeds half marathon in 1:24:28.

She intends to complete races in Bath, Chesterfield, Worksop and The Great North Run before the end of the year.

Nicola said: “I decided to donate to Bluebell Wood because it is a charity very close to my heart.

“Some of my friends sadly lost their beautiful little boy and Bluebell Wood supported them.

“Many people think that they may like to challenge themselves to raise funds by taking part in an organised race but have that horrible gut feeling that they won’t be able to do it. Well you can.

“When I first decided that I wanted to try and run I would have to stop-start at every lamp post and now 10 years later, at the age of 26, I run at a pace of six minute miles. Push yourself and run for a great cause.”
