Rotherham United this afternoon extended the loan stay of Grant Ward as they allowed two other players to leave.
Deposed captain Greg Halford joined fellow Championship side Birmingham City until January while Chris Maguire dropped down to League Two with Oxford United, also until the New Year.
Spurs youngster Ward, whose present deal expired today, will now remain with the Millers until January.
"Grant has impressed me," said manager Neil Redfearn. "He has shown some mental resilience and toughness for a young boy. There have been a couple of games where it hasn't been great, but he has come out of the other side and that shows mental toughness.
"The boy has got ability, there's no two ways about it. He is learning the game so, like all young players, he does daft stuff at times, but I think the benefits of him far outweigh his learning curve."
Ward, aged 20, has been a regular starter in Redfearn's seven matches in charge, unlike Halford and Maguire.
Utility man Halford, who had the captaincy taken off him by former boss Steve Evans earlier in the season, hasn't played under Redfearn while former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Maguire has failed to make the squad in recent matches.
