ROTHERHAM dinner lady Janice Russell is set to cook up a storm in the final of the Yorkshire and Humber school chef of the year contest.
Janice, a chef at Maltby Academy, will take on two rivals cooking her gratin of flaked salmon and chorizo with lemon and parsley mash.
Her dessert will be a filo basket filled with a medley of fruits.
Contestants at tomorrow’s final in Hull must cook a main course and dessert suitable for an 11-year-old, spending no more than £1.50 per child on the whole meal.
On the judging panel will be a professional chef and two 11-year-old pupils from a local school, as well as a local authority catering expert and a leading dietitian.
Janice is taking on school chefs from Richmond, North Yorkshire, and Scunthorpe.
