Rotherham rape suspect in custody

A man accused of raping a teenage girl on her way to school in Rotherham has been remanded in custody until his next court date.

Paul Jones, aged 47, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, Rotherham, appeared before Sheffield magistrates over the weekend and is due at the city's crown court on December 19.

He is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in Canklow, Rotherham; engaging in sexual activity in front of a child and possession of a knife to threaten in a public place.

Jones has also been charged with engaging in sexual activity in front of an 11-year-old child and attempting to incite sexual activity with a child in the Clifton area of Rotherham in June 2011.
