Rotherham Council lists children’s centres at risk of closure

Rotherham Council chiefs have published a list of 15 children centres at risk of closure.

They are proposing to close 15 of the 22 centres in the town - leaving just seven still open.

Those at risk are Cortonwood, Dinnington, Kimberworth, Marcliff, Meadows, Park View, Rockingham, Ryton Brook, Silver Birch, Sue Walker, Thorpe Hesley, Thurcroft and Wath Victoria.

The closure plan has been put forward by council chiefs to try to save £2.2 million.

Members of the public are being asked for their views during a consultation process which runs until April 30.

A series of public meetings have been organised for users of the centres to find out more.
