Rotherham is to host an event designed to help the town’s senior population feel safer.
The free event, on Tuesday October 1, from 10am to 2pm, at Myplace Rotherham, St. Ann’s Road, will give pensioners the chance to find out information and take part in activities.
Representatives of organisations including South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and Rotherham Council will be on hand to talk about and advise on a range of topics, including assistance technology, benefits and trading standards.
Coun John Doyle, council cabinet member for adult social care, said: “Everyone in Rotherham’s rich and varied community is important.
“However, some members of our community need a helping hand, and that’s what this event is designed to do.
“It’s there as a guide, where people can come to be pointed in the right direction for things. It’s not about being helpless or vulnerable, it’s about remaining vibrant members of our community who can live their life to the fullest.”
