RESIDENTS are being urged to be on their guard against rogue traders.
Police said there had been ‘suspicious incidents’ in Unstone and Chesterfield.
Officers were called at 9.30am on Monday, March 26, to reports of three men in a white transit van, who were calling at homes on Dunston Lane, Chesterfield, offering to carry out work.
On the same day, a resident on Brierley Road in Unstone, contacted police with concerns after paying a large amount of cash for gardening work, but not receiving a receipt.
Derbyshire Police Community Safety Inspector Russ Dakin said: “I would strongly advise people not to agree to work from strangers who call unannounced. If you think there is work to be done then ask for a few quotes first.”
