ROADWORKS are due to begin in Barnsley to repair damage caused by the floods of 2007.
Repairs are to be carried out to a 230-metre stretch of embankment along the A6195 Park Spring Road, near Little Houghton, from Thursday, September 1.
A temporary speed restriction of 40mph will be in place and traffic lights in operation for the duration of the 10-week project.
The £250,000 scheme is being funded by the Department for Transport.
Councillor Roy Miller, of Barnsley Council, said: “The works to the embankment are needed to repair damage done as a result of the extensive flooding in 2007.
“It has taken some time to agree funding for the scheme and it is the last of such flooding repairs to be done in the borough.”
