Roads closed and firms evacuated after tank shell find
ROADS in Sheffield were closed today after a suspected World War Two tank shell was discovered at a builder's yard in the city.
The item was found at a yard on Sussex Street, Sheffield, at around 9.35am, and a 100-metre cordon was set up around the area.
Local businesses were evacuated, while traffic on Furnival Road and Effingham Street was also disrupted due to the incident.
Police liased with the Army's explosive ordnance disposal team before all roads were reopened again at 12.25pm.
The shell was not thought to be dangerous.
