A BLAZING prison van caused rush-hour traffic problems after overheating on a busy motorway slip road.

The vehicle, which did not contain any prisoners at the time, burst into flames on the exit of Junction 35 of the A1(M) – the intersection with the M18 – on Wednesday night.

Crews from Doncaster fire station were called out to deal with the incident at about 6.20pm, which is being treated as accidental.
