The proposal to ban HGVs on Bocking Lane and divert them onto Abbey Lane and Meadowhead has not been thought through. Diverting them to the already congested Meadowhead and Woodseats area will result in gridlock at peak times.
The road at the end of Abbey Lane (outside the Spar) is not wide enough for a bus and lorry to pass each other. So when the traffic lights change, traffic will build up and block the junction and the main A61.
